Does anyone have a link to a step by step process of setting up hardware raid 1. I had it but now I cant seem to find it again online. I also seem to be having issue with RAM slots. My ram is on the QVL but I can run the 8GBx4 Sticks in A1,B1,C1,D1 as recommended and as I want( This allows me to put 2 on each side for symmetry). Click to Play!

I just put together my first system that uses DDR3 memory. The motherboard I got is an ASUS M4A77T/USB3 and it has 4 DDR3 RAM slots. Looking in the manual for the MB it doesn't say anything about how to install the RAM as far as matching the pairs goes. Click to Play!

I have a 4GB RAM DDRIII stick in slots 1 and a second one in slot3 (reading left to right, i.e. slot 1 is the leftmost) and all is working fine. If I put a third 4 GB stick in either slot 2 or slot 4 OR put two 4GB sticks in slots 2 and 4, then the computer does not boot up. Click to Play!

Forum discussion: In my new Asus Z97-A MB it says in the manual that if you have only 2 sticks of ram then place them in slots 2 & 4 instead of 1 & 2. I found that odd because I was always under. Click to Play!

Does it matter which slot you put an additional RAM card in? | Lightroom Queen Forums

You are right about mixing different RAM modules — if there's one thing you absolutely can't mix, it's DDR with DDR2, or DDR2 with DDR3 and so on (they won't even fit in the same slots). RAM is.
In the past, games were typically not CPU-bound, so the extra bandwidth didn't really matter. However, Battlefield 1 is unique in that it is CPU intensive, so differences like dual and single channel RAM actually matter. To test this out, I got my hands on two 4gb and two 8gb sticks of DDR3-1600 RAM.
For example, if your computer comes with 256MB of removable memory and you want to add a 512MB module, it would be best to put the 512MB module into slot 0 and the 256MB module into slot 1. If you have a system which supports dual-channel mode (some DDR systems and most DDR2 / DDR3 systems), the slot selection DOES matter.

Note. Keep in mind that the memory already installed in your computer is occupying one or more of the memory slots in your computer. For example, you may have four memory slots and 1 GB of RAM, and that 1 GB is coming from two 512 (2x512=1,204) memory sticks, which means two of the four memory slots are being used.
It depends on whether you have available slots to put in the new 4 gb RAM stick. My guess is that if you got the computer with 2 gb of ram, they might just have 2 1gb sticks. therefore, you might have to remove one of the 1gb sticks and replace it with the 4gb stick, giving you a total of 5gb RAM

Does RAM speed REALLY matter? - YouTube

There should be a label on the RAM that will have its speed, type, and size printed on it. If using a dual-channel memory configuration, make sure that the RAM in both slots of the bank match each other. I like to use identical RAM sticks (same size, same speed, same manufacturer), especially in dual-channel configurations.

I currently have a MSi z170a gaming m5 motherboard, and I installed my ram in slots 1 and 3.
Now, when i read the manual later, Cause im dumb and forgot check this out read about the slots before hand i noticed that i should have put a stick in dimm2 first, and the model showed the sticks in 1 and 2.
Now, Slots 1 and 3 did allow the computer to POST, but i was wondering if i would get better performance out of slots 2 and does it matter which slots i put my ram in />Also, if i were to switch the slots, would the computer be fine and boot after the switch if i did that as in the memory not being corrupted and such Probably a really dumb question, but im a first time builder, so im still not entirely sure.
Btw the ram I have are the g.
If you have them in 1 and 3, you are losing some performance by only being in single channel speed.
If you add another pair of matched RAM sticks, they should go in 1 and 4.
If the manual recommends DIMM slots 1 and 2, those will provide dual channel speed.
If you have them in 1 and 3, you are losing some performance by only being in single channel speed.
If you add another pair of matched RAM sticks, they should go in 1 and 4.
The manual has it in slots 2 and 4, not 1 and 2.
But just because im a newbie, I was curious if accidentally putting the sticks in 1 and 3 and not the manual recommended 2 and 4 would have any affect on speed, with both being dual channel.
Well, you are the one that said 1 and 2.
But no, it doesn't make any difference which pair of matching lots you use.
Some boards' not how to remove ram slot valuable recommend using one set first for best stability.
But if your board doesn't have that disclaimer, it won't matter.
Asus recommends slots 2 and 4 in all their boards.
This is by design.
It makes life easy.
Many aftermarket coolers especially the twin tower style can broach slot 1, but it's very rare to find a cooler that'll broach slot 2 as well.

Must've been a typo then.
Thanks for the help.
